The Directorate General of Construction Development at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Proposes Additional Budget for 2024: What is it for?

The Directorate General of Construction Development (Ditjen Bina Konstruksi) of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has proposed a budget increase of Rp114 billion for 2024.

As reported by *Katadata*, the initial budget allocation for the Directorate General of Construction Development in 2024 was Rp578 billion. With the proposed addition, the total budget allocation for 2024 could reach Rp692 billion.

Meanwhile, the budget allocation for 2023 reached Rp588.7 billion. As of June 16, 2023, the financial progress or realization of the Directorate General of Construction Development amounted to Rp230.7 billion, or 39.2% of the total budget.

On the other hand, the physical progress of the Directorate General of Construction Development in the same period has reached 39.7%.

The Director General of Construction Development, Rachman Arief Dienaputra, stated that the additional budget is needed for construction improvement.

“We need support to fulfill the proposal (budget increase) for the implementation of higher-quality infrastructure development,” said Rachman during a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Tuesday (June 20, 2023).

The additional budget allocation will be used to accelerate the production of Construction Workers (TKK) and the certification process by the Professional Certification Institution (LSP) and Business Entity Certification Institution (LSBU).

Funds will also be allocated for the digitalization of Procurement of Goods and Services (PBJ) in accordance with the National Strategy for Corruption Prevention (Stranas PK)-KPK.
