Sumatra Barat Food Prices Thursday (2/1): Onion and Rice Prices Increase

The prices of several food commodities in West Sumatra today are observed to be higher than yesterday.

Citing data from the National Food Agency (Bapanas) food price panel on Thursday (2/1/2025) at 08.04 WIB, out of 17 commodities, 13 commodities increased in price and 4 commodities decreased.

Commodities that increased in price include shallots, wheat flour (bulk), broiler chicken, red onions, and medium-grain rice.

Meanwhile, the prices of several commodities such as red chilies, packaged wheat flour (non-bulk), skipjack tuna, and mackerel decreased compared to yesterday's prices.

Bulk cooking oil saw the highest price increase of Rp4,370 (25.81%), reaching Rp21,300 per liter. Mackerel experienced the largest price drop of Rp6,810 (14.55%), reaching Rp40,000 per kg.

The following is a complete list of the prices of 17 food commodities in West Sumatra according to Bapanas on January 2, 2025, at 08.04 WIB.

2. Red Chilies: Rp52,300 per kg (down 5.2%)
3. Broiler Chicken: Rp46,400 per kg (up 10.58%)
4. Shallots: Rp45,000 per kg (up 6.06%)
5. Mackerel: Rp40,000 per kg (down 14.55%)
6. Red Onions: Rp39,300 per kg (up 11.65%)
7. Skipjack Tuna: Rp35,000 per kg (down 7.38%)
8. Broiler Chicken Eggs: Rp32,900 per kg (up 6.68%)
9. Bulk Cooking Oil: Rp21,300 per liter (up 25.81%)
10. Simple Packaged Cooking Oil: Rp21,000 per liter (up 12.12%)
11. Premium Rice: Rp19,500 per kg (up 12.39%)
12. Granulated Sugar: Rp19,300 per kg (up 7.22%)
13. Medium-grain Rice: Rp17,600 per kg (up 17.33%)
14. Fine Iodized Salt: Rp15,000 per kg (up 0.13%)
15. SPHP Rice: Rp13,100 per kg (up 4.72%)
