Koinworks research shows that 63.4% of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are pessimistic that their businesses will grow in Q1 2021. Specifically, 42% of MSMEs predict a decrease in their income, while another 21.4% anticipate a significant decline in revenue.

The pessimism among MSMEs stems from difficulties in innovation, including the digitalization of their businesses. As a result, they struggle to find business opportunities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Conversely, 15.1% of MSMEs are optimistic about business growth in Q1 2021. 1.5% of MSMEs are confident of a significant increase in income, while 20% expect their businesses to perform normally.

The Koinworks research, titled 'Digital SME Confidence Report', employed a mixed-methods approach (quantitative and qualitative) with 1,188 MSMEs as respondents. The research was conducted from October to November 2020.
