Top 10 Countries with the Strongest Military Forces: Where Does Russia Rank?

The United States (US) has the largest military strength globally. This is stated by the Global Firepower, a world military ranking agency, in its annual index, the *2022 World Military Strength Ranking*.

According to the report, the US military ranks first out of 140 countries, with a Power Index (PwrIndx) score of 0.0453.

The next strongest military belongs to Russia, currently in tension with its neighbor Ukraine. Russia's military is ranked second globally with a PwrIndx score of 0.0501. Ukraine's military strength is ranked 22nd.

In the PwrIndx scoring system, the closer the value is to 0, the stronger the country is considered to be.

The PwrIndx score is also calculated based on 50 unique indicators, so a smaller country could potentially achieve a higher ranking than a larger country.

However, this ranking does not take into account a country's nuclear warfare capabilities.

Indonesia's Military Strength Ranked 15th Globally

Global Firepower assesses Indonesia's military strength as 15th in the world, with a PwrIndx score of 0.2251.

This ranking is up one level from 2021, when Indonesia was ranked 16th.

In 2022, Indonesia's position was between Iran (14th) and Germany (16th).
