The Wealth Declaration of Sohibul Iman, Jakarta's Deputy Governor Candidate Accompanying Anies

The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) officially nominated Anies Baswedan and Sohibul Iman as the prospective gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial candidates (bacagub-bacawagub) for the Jakarta 2024 Regional Elections (Pilkada) this coming November.

PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu stated that the PKS Central Leadership Board (DPP) had received the nomination recommendation from the PKS Jakarta Regional Leadership Board (DPW).

“We are optimistic that Mr. Anies and Mr. Sohibul will be winning candidates,” said Syaikhu in a statement, as reported by *Katadata*, Tuesday (25/6/2024).

The public may still be familiar with Anies, who previously ran for president in the 2024 Presidential Election and served as the Governor of DKI Jakarta from 2017-2022. So, what is the background of his prospective running mate, Sohibul?

Sohibul was the PKS President from 2015-2020 and currently serves as the Deputy Chairman of the party's Syuro Council. Sohibul has a strong academic background, particularly in engineering and technology. He completed his undergraduate degree (S1) at Waseda University, Japan; his master's degree (S2) at Takushoku University; and his doctorate (S3) at the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST).

This politician, born in Tasikmalaya on October 5, 1965, also served in the DPR (House of Representatives) from 2014-2019. During his tenure, Sohibul's assets were recorded at Rp1.68 billion, according to the KPK's State Officials' Wealth Report (LHKPN) on December 23, 2014.

The largest component of his assets came from land and buildings. Sohibul owns seven plots of land and buildings valued at Rp943.59 million, spread across Depok, Bogor, and Tasikmalaya.

Sohibul also owns three cars and two motorcycles, acquired through his own efforts, valued at Rp544 million. He also has giro and cash equivalents totaling Rp202.30 million. In 2014, Sohibul had no recorded debts.
