Indonesia's Investment Remains Concentrated in Java through September 2021

Indonesia's investment realization remained concentrated in Java during January-September 2021. The Investment Ministry/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) recorded a value of Rp 318.8 trillion, or 48.3% of the total investment during the first nine months of the year.

Specifically, domestic investment (PMDN) realization in Java reached Rp 164.6 trillion. Meanwhile, foreign investment (PMA) realization on the island amounted to US$ 10.6 billion, or approximately Rp 154.1 trillion.

Investment realization in Sumatra ranked second with a value of Rp 143.9 trillion or 21.8%. Following Sumatra is Sulawesi, with investment realization of Rp 71.1 trillion or 10.8%.

Furthermore, investment realization in Kalimantan was recorded at Rp 57.3 trillion or 8.7%. Investment realization in Maluku and Papua reached Rp 47.2 trillion. Meanwhile, investment in Bali and Nusa Tenggara amounted to only Rp 21.3 trillion or 3.2%.

Total investment realization across Indonesia reached Rp 659.4 trillion during January-September 2021. This value represents a 7.8% increase compared to the same period the previous year.
