Indonesia's Annual Inflation Rate Falls to 1.33% in June 2021

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded Indonesia's inflation rate at 1.33% year-on-year (yoy) in June 2021, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.46. This annual inflation rate decreased from 1.68% in May 2021.

The expenditure group with the highest annual inflation was personal care and other services at 3.53%. This was followed by restaurants and health, with annual inflation rates of 2.68% and 1.92%, respectively.

Further high inflation was observed in food, beverages, and tobacco at 1.85%; household goods at 1.78%; and education at 1.61%. Clothing and footwear experienced inflation of 1.18%; recreation, sports, and culture 0.96%; housing 0.3%; transportation 0.09%; and information, communication, and financial services 0.01%.

Meanwhile, Indonesia experienced a monthly deflation of 0.16% in June 2021. The calendar year inflation rate was recorded at 0.74%.

Monthly deflation occurred in 56 out of 90 cities. The highest deflation was in Kupang at 0.89% with a CPI of 104.88. The lowest deflation was in Palembang at 0.01% with a CPI of 105.49.

Monthly inflation occurred in 34 cities. The highest inflation was in Singkawang at 1.36% with a CPI of 105.50. The lowest inflation was in Pekanbaru and Tanjung Selor, both at 0.01%, with CPIs of 105.28 and 103.92, respectively.
