91% of Taxpayers Have Integrated Their NIK and NPWP

The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) of the Ministry of Finance reports that the matching of the Population Identification Number (NIK) with the Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) has reached 91.7% as of March 31, 2024.

Of the total 73.58 million domestic individual taxpayers, 67.47 million have already completed the matching process.

Of this number, 63.24 million NIKs and NPWPs were matched by the system, while 4.23 million were matched independently by taxpayers.

"The NIK and NPWP matching process is still ongoing; the numbers are gradually increasing," said Dwi Astuti, Director of Taxpayer Education, Services, and Public Relations at the DGT, as reported by Antara on Monday (April 1, 2024).

On the other hand, 6.11 million NIKs have yet to be matched with NPWPs. However, according to Dwi, this remaining number is not urgent to be matched due to several factors, such as the taxpayer's death, inactivity, or departure from Indonesia.

Previously, Director General of Taxes Suryo Utomo stated that he would continue to coordinate with Dukcapil (the Population and Civil Registration Agency) to expedite the NIK and NPWP matching process.

Suryo urged the public through various socialization activities to immediately conduct the matching, so that taxpayer data will be recorded as an indicator during the implementation of the core tax system.

Independent NIK and NPWP matching can be done online by taxpayers through the pajak.go.id website. Virtual services are also available to assist taxpayers experiencing difficulties in matching their data.

The full implementation of NIK as NPWP will be carried out on July 1, 2024. This is based on the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 136 of 2023 concerning amendments to PMK Number 112/PMK.03/2022 concerning NPWP for Individuals, Corporate Taxpayers, and Government Institution Taxpayers.
