According to BPS (Statistics Indonesia) publications, with a total population of 160,230, the GRDP per capita in this region is recorded at Rp69,350,000/capita/year. Nationally, this ranks 126th.
Of the 17 sectors driving the region's economy, the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector is the leading contributor.
The wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector in Bau Bau City is the mainstay, contributing the largest share to the 2023 GRDP with a value of Rp2.47 trillion. This represents a 5.17% increase compared to the previous year's Rp2.23 trillion.
Second is the construction sector, growing by 1.61% to Rp2.42 trillion, followed by the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector in third place with a GRDP of Rp1.8 trillion (5.22% growth).
Rounding out the top five contributing sectors is the education services sector with a GRDP of Rp836.48 billion. This sector recorded a 5.4% growth compared to the previous year's Rp759.47 billion.
