The 2023 Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices in Tanah Laut Regency was recorded at Rp20.17 trillion. This represents a 4.78% growth compared to the previous year's Rp19.02 trillion.
Compared to the COVID-19 pandemic period in 2020, economic growth in this region is significantly higher. At the end of 2020, post-COVID, growth fell by 1.95%.
According to BPS (Statistics Indonesia) publications, with a total population of 360,970, the GRDP per capita in this region is recorded at Rp55,870,000/capita/year. Nationally, this ranks 188th.
Of the 17 sectors driving economic activity in this regency, the mining and quarrying sector is the leading contributor.
The mining and quarrying sector ranked first, contributing the largest share to the GRDP in 2023, reaching Rp6.67 trillion with a growth of 3.73%.
Second is the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector, which grew by 2.06% to Rp3.1 trillion. Third is the manufacturing industry sector, growing by 5.33% to Rp2.14 trillion.
Finally, completing the top five contributors to Tanah Laut Regency's GRDP is the construction sector with a value of Rp1.35 trillion. According to BPS, this sector grew by 7.36% over the past year from the previous achievement of Rp1.21 trillion.

In terms of distribution, the main sector contributing the most to GRDP growth in Tanah Laut Regency is mining and quarrying, with a contribution of 28.01%. Other sectors in the top five include agriculture, forestry and fisheries; manufacturing; wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; and construction.
Sectors with the smallest distribution include health and social services; other services; business services; water supply; waste management, waste and recycling; and electricity and gas supply.
