According to the *Lowy Institute Asia Power Index 2021*, Indonesia's overall national power is ranked 9th globally with a score of 19.4 out of 100.
This score places Indonesia in the group of medium-power nations.
However, Indonesia's national power is still considered below that of Singapore, which ranks 8th globally with a score of 26.2 out of 100.
National Power is Not Just Military Might
The assessment of national power in the *Lowy Institute Asia Power Index 2021* is measured across various aspects, including economic capabilities, military strength, resilience, and future resources.
Economic relations, defense networks, diplomatic influence, and cultural influence of each country are also calculated as a basis for assessment.
In the economic capability indicator, Indonesia received a score of 9 (11th rank). In the military strength indicator, Indonesia scored 14.8 (13th rank).
In the resilience indicator, Indonesia's score was 36.8 (10th rank). In the future resources indicator, Indonesia's score was 11.6 (5th rank).
Furthermore, in the economic relations indicator, Indonesia scored 12.3 (11th rank). In the defense network indicator, it scored 15.3 (14th rank), the diplomatic influence indicator scored 54 (8th rank), and the cultural influence indicator scored 15.9 (12th rank).
Overall, Indonesia climbed two ranks compared to the previous year, surpassing Thailand and Malaysia, which are now ranked below Indonesia.
