Data from the Jakarta Metro Police, recorded by the Central Bureau of Statistics, shows that throughout 2014, 14,472 crimes and public order violations occurred in DKI Jakarta Province. Averaged out, this equates to approximately 39 crimes/violations per day.
The breakdown is as follows: 44 public order violations in the Thousand Islands, 2,834 in South Jakarta, 3,074 in East Jakarta, 4,801 in Central Jakarta, 1,907 in West Jakarta, and 1,749 in North Jakarta. The most prevalent crime/public order violation in Jakarta was narcotics-related offenses, reaching 3,111 cases, followed by fraud at 2,321 cases, and then motor vehicle theft.
