Most of the population of East Nusa Tenggara was Catholic in June 2021.

The Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) recorded that the population of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) was 5.48 million in June 2021. Of this number, 2.94 million people, or 53.61% of the NTT population, are Catholic.

1.98 million people, or 3.68% of the NTT population, are Christian. Furthermore, 517,740 people, or 9.44% of the NTT population, are Muslim.

The number of Hindus in NTT is 5,870 people, or 0.11%. 384 people, or 0.01% of the province's population, are Buddhist.

There are 32 people in NTT who practice Confucianism. Meanwhile, 35,880 people, or 0.65% of the NTT population, adhere to indigenous beliefs.

Based on gender, 2.75 million people, or 50.09% of the NTT population, are male. Meanwhile, 2.74 million people, or 49.91%, are female.

There are 2.06 million people, or 37.54% of the NTT population, who are married. 3.25 million people, or 50.31% of the NTT population, are unmarried.

Furthermore, there are 13,840 people, or 0.25% of the NTT population, who are divorced. Meanwhile, 158,890 people, or 2.9% of the province's population, are widowed.
