Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring over the last 24 hours recorded 9,474 hotspots detected across Indonesia. This figure increased by 3,564 points compared to the previous period.

The data was obtained from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Wednesday (9/9/2026) at 11:36 WIB. Out of total detected hotspots: 548 have high confidence level, 8,538 medium confidence, and 388 low confidence.

Hotspot confidence is divided into 3 tiers: low (0-29), medium (30-79), high (80-100). Higher confidence indicates greater likelihood of active forest/land fires in the location.

Central Kalimantan recorded the highest count with 2,459 hotspots, followed by South Sumatra (1,445) and West Kalimantan (928).

East Kalimantan detected 793 hotspots, Maluku 576, while South Papua and South Sulawesi recorded 338 and 292 hotspots respectively.

Hotspots are coordinate points showing elevated surface temperature relative to surrounding areas; this does not directly equal the total number of fire incidents.

However, concentrated clusters of high-count hotspots reliably indicate active forest and land fires. Satellite-detected hotspot data remains the most effective method for large-scale wildfire monitoring.
