The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has resulted in approximately 5,200 deaths and 18,500 injuries on both sides between October 7th and 19th, 2023.
This data was compiled by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) from the Gaza Ministry of Health and official statements from the Israeli government.
By the 13th day of the war, Thursday, October 19th, 2023, the majority of casualties were Palestinian, as shown in the graph.
Specifically, the majority of Palestinian casualties were in the Gaza Strip, with approximately 3,785 deaths and 12,500 injuries. In the West Bank, there were 79 deaths and 1,434 injuries.
On the other hand, there were 1,400 deaths on the Israeli side—with no new deaths reported since Thursday, October 12th, 2023—and 4,629 injuries.
OCHA also reported that the conditions of surviving displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are deteriorating.
"The number of internally displaced persons in Gaza is estimated at around one million, including more than 527,500 people residing in 147 UNRWA emergency shelters under increasingly dire conditions," OCHA stated in its report on Thursday, October 19th, 2023.
"UNRWA emergency shelters in central and southern Gaza are overcrowded. Essential resources such as water, food, and medicine are severely limited. In some locations, UNRWA has been forced to reduce drinking water rations, providing only 1 liter of water per person per day. The minimum international standard is 15 liters," it continued.
