Approximately 5,000 Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) scholarship recipients are currently studying abroad. The United Kingdom is the most popular destination, with 1,679 students. This is followed by the Netherlands (798) and Australia (684).
Since its launch in 2012, LPDP has awarded scholarships to 16,293 Indonesians pursuing Master's (S2) and Doctoral (S3) degrees. 10,406 of these recipients are currently studying, with 5,575 studying domestically and the remainder abroad.
In 2017, the government allocated Rp 2.5 trillion (approximately US$170 million, depending on the exchange rate) for LPDP scholarships, targeting 5,000 recipients. Over the past five years, the government has disbursed Rp 22.5 trillion (approximately US$1.5 billion, depending on the exchange rate) for LPDP scholarships.
