Top 10 G20 Countries with the Highest Youth Unemployment Rates: Indonesia Makes the List!

Unemployment is a central issue amidst the global economic, food, and climate crises. The International Labour Organization projects that global unemployment could reach 207 million people in 2022, a 21 million increase compared to 2019.

G20 member countries are not exempt from this unemployment problem. According to Statista, South Africa had the highest youth unemployment rate in 2021, reaching 64%.

Brazil follows with a youth unemployment rate nearing 32%. Conversely, Japan had the lowest youth unemployment rate at approximately 4.5%.

“In Indonesia, we continue to strive to fulfill the rights of workers with disabilities, including by providing inclusive infrastructure. We also strive to continuously improve inclusive access to education for workers,” said Vice President K.H. The G20 Summit in Bali is one of Indonesia's most important agendas this year. The G20, or Group of 20, is a multilateral cooperation forum comprising 19 countries and the European Union.
