Based on population data from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Aceh's population totaled 5.52 million at the end of 2023.

North Aceh Regency has the largest population in Aceh, namely 627,540 (11.38%) of the total population.

This is followed by Bireuen Regency with a population of 458,980 (8.32%), East Aceh Regency with 449,800 (8.15%), and Pidie Regency with 444,900 (8.07%).

Meanwhile, Sabang City has the smallest population, at only 43,530 (0.79%).

Administratively, Aceh is divided into 5 cities and 18 regencies, with 27 districts encompassing 852 villages.

Based on marital status, 43.27% of Aceh's population is married, while 50.53% are unmarried. The population with divorced and widowed statuses reached 1.37% and 4.83%, respectively.
