US Military Aid to Ukraine Has Increased Dramatically Since 2014

United States (US) President Joe Biden announced that he will provide US$350 million in military aid to Ukraine to counter the Russian invasion.

Looking back, during the period 2010-2020, the US provided more than US$2 billion in military aid to Ukraine.

During the period 2010-2014, the value of US aid to Ukraine ranged below US$100 million per year. Then, after Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, the US doubled its aid to Ukraine from US$91.03 million in 2014 to US$182.85 million in 2015.

The value of US aid increased again to US$318.13 million in 2016. In 2017, it dropped to US$262.24 million, but increased again to US$298.88 million in 2018.

Then, the aid value rose significantly to US$427.92 million in 2019 and US$412.05 million in 2020. Overall, Ukraine was the 7th largest recipient of US military aid during the period 2016-2020.

On Saturday (February 26th), US Secretary of State Anthony J. Blinken revealed that the US has provided US$1 billion in aid over the past year, including the latest US$350 million aid package.

According to data from the Stimson Center, the US has also provided military training to at least 10,629 Ukrainian soldiers.
