The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) reported that regional tax revenue from across Indonesia reached Rp154.05 trillion in August 2023. This figure shows a 6.6% year-on-year (yoy) growth compared to the same period last year.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati stated that the increase in regional revenue from taxes was driven by an increase in consumption-based taxes, namely hotel tax, restaurant tax, entertainment tax, and parking tax.

Aggregately, Bali was the province with the highest growth in regional taxes, reaching 81.2% last month.

"For tourism centers like Bali, the increase is extraordinary," said the Minister of Finance.

Hotel tax in Bali reached Rp2.38 trillion in August 2023. This amount surged by 240.4% yoy from the previous period.

Central Kalimantan ranked second with a 20.5% monthly growth in regional taxes.

Third was North Kalimantan, with regional tax growth reaching 17%.

This was followed by South Sulawesi and DKI Jakarta with growth of 12.2% and 11.8% respectively.
