Based on forest and land fire monitoring system SiPongi from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring over the past 24 hours detected 890 hotspots in Indonesia. This figure increased by 109 hotspots compared to the previous period.

Data was obtained from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed at Sunday (5/7/2026) 11.53 WIB. Out of 890 detected hotspots, 20 had high confidence level, 842 medium confidence, and 28 low confidence.

Hotspot confidence is divided into 3 tiers: low (0-29), medium (30-79), high (80-100). Higher hotspot confidence means higher probability of forest and land fires occurring in the area.

The highest number of detected hotspots was recorded in West Kalimantan with 116 points, followed equally by East Java at 116 points, then South Papua at 102 hotspots.

84 hotspots were detected in South Sumatra, 62 in Bangka Belitung Islands, while East Kalimantan and West Nusa Tenggara recorded 59 and 39 hotspots respectively.

A hotspot refers to a geographic coordinate showing higher surface temperature than its surroundings; this does not equal the total fire incident count.

However, clustered and high-volume hotspots indicate active forest and land fire events. Satellite-detected hotspot data remains the most effective method for monitoring wildfires over large territories.
