According to the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system from the Ministry of Forestry, monitoring over the last 24 hours detected 20,928 hotspots across Indonesia. This number increased by 3,130 hotspots compared to the prior period.

The data was obtained from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Saturday (3/10/2026) at 11.15 WIB. Of the total detected hotspots: 1,278 are high confidence level, 18,563 are medium confidence, and 1,087 are low confidence.

Hotspot confidence is divided into 3 tiers: low (0-29), medium (30-79), high (80-100). Higher hotspot confidence indicates greater likelihood of active forest and land fires in that location.

The highest hotspot count was recorded in Central Kalimantan with 5,941 points, followed by South Papua (3,043) and South Sumatra (2,504).

Additional counts include: West Kalimantan 2,010, East Kalimantan 1,360, North Maluku 1,031, South Kalimantan 897 hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point showing higher surface temperature than surrounding areas; this does not directly equal fire incident counts.

However, clustered, high-volume hotspot readings strongly indicate active forest and land fires. Satellite-detected hotspot data remains the most effective method for large-area wildfire monitoring.
