8,551 Crimes Reported in Yogyakarta in 2020

Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that 8,551 crimes were reported in Yogyakarta in 2020. This figure represents a 7.6% decrease compared to the previous year, which saw 9,170 reported cases.

Specifically, the Yogyakarta Regional Police (Mapolda Yogyakarta) reported the highest number of crimes at 4,701 cases. Sleman Regency reported 1,424 cases.

Bantul Regency and Yogyakarta City reported 1,088 and 621 cases, respectively. Kulon Progo Regency reported 533 crimes, while Gunungkidul Regency reported only 184 cases.

In 2020, Yogyakarta City had the highest crime risk per capita, with 129 incidents per 100,000 residents. Gunungkidul Regency had the lowest risk, with 19 incidents per 100,000 residents.

Police solved 76.41% of reported crimes in Yogyakarta. This represents an 11.06 percentage point increase from the previous year's 68.8%.
