10 of the World's Oldest Companies Still in Operation

Several companies around the world are incredibly old and still operating today. Some have successfully navigated the challenges of changing times, with some even boasting histories spanning millennia.

According to *World Atlas*, Kongo Gumi, a construction company from Japan, is recorded as the oldest company in the world, founded in 578 AD. For centuries, Kongo Gumi participated in the construction of numerous famous buildings in Japan, including Osaka Castle, built in the 16th century.

Another Japanese company, Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan Hotel, opened in 705 AD, holds the second position as the oldest company in the world. This hotel has been operated by 53 generations of the same family since its founding.

Third place is also occupied by a Japanese accommodation company named Koman. Koman Hotel was founded in 717 AD and maintains traditional Japanese touches such as communal baths and tatami mats.

Other companies in the world that are also among the oldest include Hoshi Ryokan (718 AD), Genda Shigyo (771 AD), Stiftskeller St. Peter (803 AD), Staffelter Hof (862 AD), Tanaka-Iga (885 AD), Sean's Bar (900 AD), and The Bingley Arms (953 AD).
