Southeast Sulawesi's Population Reaches 2.75 Million, 12% Reside in Kendari City at the End of 2023

According to population data from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the population of Southeast Sulawesi Province reached 2.75 million at the end of 2023.

Kendari City is the most populous area in Southeast Sulawesi Province, with 351,080 inhabitants (12.75%) of the total population.

Next is Konawe Selatan Regency with a population of 322,950 (11.73%), Konawe Regency with 264,600 (9.61%), and Kolaka Regency with 247,680 (8.99%).

Meanwhile, Konawe Islands Regency is the regency/city with the smallest population, at only 42,680 (1.55%).

Administratively, Southeast Sulawesi Province is divided into 2 cities and 15 regencies, with 11 districts comprising 65 urban villages.

Based on marital status, 44.7% of the population of Southeast Sulawesi Province is married, while 50.27% is unmarried. The population with divorced and widowed statuses reached 1.45% and 3.58%, respectively.
