Egypt, Indonesia's Largest Date Supplier in 2023

According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), Indonesia imported 56,740 tons of dates in 2023. The export value reached US$80.52 million, equivalent to Rp1.26 trillion (assuming Rp15,726 per US$) during that period.

In 2023, Indonesia imported the most dates from Egypt, namely 21,300 tons. Indonesia also imported significant quantities from other Middle Eastern countries, namely Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

3. United Arab Emirates: 10,330 tons
4. Tunisia: 5,580 tons
5. Iran: 4,970 tons
6. Algeria: 1,680 tons
7. Libya: 729.86 tons
8. United States: 350.17 tons
9. Palestine: 295.46 tons
10. Pakistan: 160.06 tons

Throughout 2023, Indonesia did not record any date imports from Israel. However, in 2022, a small quantity of Israeli dates (135 kilograms) entered Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the pro-Palestine Instagram account Friends of Aqsa (FOA) is currently calling for a boycott of several Israeli date brands. These include King Solomon Dates, Hadiklaim, Jordan River, Star Dates, Carmel, Galilee, and Mehadrin.
