Regional taxes in Indonesia experienced a significant increase throughout 2022. Based on Regional Original Revenue (PAD), total regional tax collection reached Rp195.72 trillion.
This figure represents a 9.4% increase from the previous year's Rp178.85 trillion. So, which types of taxes experienced the highest growth?
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani stated that regional hotel taxes showed the highest growth, reaching Rp5.74 trillion. This figure surged by 110.1% compared to the previous year's contribution of Rp2.73 trillion.
Second, entertainment taxes amounted to Rp1.41 trillion, an 88.2% increase from the previous year's Rp0.75 trillion.
Third, restaurant taxes reached Rp11.14 trillion, a 62% increase from the previous year's Rp6.88 trillion.
Fourth, parking taxes reached Rp1.04 trillion, a substantial 58.3% increase from the previous year's Rp0.66 trillion.
Fifth, motor vehicle fuel taxes increased by 23.9%. In November 2022, this sector contributed Rp23.79 trillion, compared to Rp19.21 trillion in the previous year.
The taxes that increased are consumption-based taxes. This indicates an improvement in the economic activity of the regional population.
"Various economic activities show consistency in the regions, demonstrated by the very strong increase in regional taxes. This is consistent with our tax revenue," said Sri Mulyani during an online press conference for *APBN Kita* on December 20th.
