According to a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), there were 3.99 million civil servants, or PNS (Civil Servants), throughout Indonesia in 2021, with the majority being female.
In 2021, the number of female PNS reached 2.1 million, or 52.7% of the total national PNS, while male PNS numbered only 1.89 million, or 47.3%.
The highest proportion of female PNS is in medical functional positions, reaching 80.02%. Female PNS also dominate teaching functional positions, with a percentage of 63.7%.
In terms of job class, the lowest proportion of female PNS is in the high-ranking leadership class (eselon II), with only 14.44%.
The percentage of female PNS in Indonesia has been steadily increasing over the past few years. The percentage of female PNS was 50.05% in 2017, rising to 50.56% in 2018, 51.51% in 2019, and 52.22% in 2020.
