Most Traffic Accidents Occur in East Java Through November 2023

According to data from the National Criminal Information Center (Pusiknas) of the Indonesian National Police (Bareskrim Polri), 134,867 traffic accidents were reported between January and November 2023.

From all these cases, the Indonesian National Police calculated material losses totaling Rp 258.18 billion.

The highest number of traffic accidents occurred in the jurisdiction of the East Java Regional Police (Polda Jawa Timur), with 29,372 reported cases up to November 2023.

This was followed by reports from the Central Java Regional Police (Polda Jawa Tengah) with 29,031 cases and the Jakarta Metro Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya) with 10,711 cases.

The following is a complete list of the top 10 Regional Police units with the highest number of reported traffic accidents from January to November 2023:

1. East Java Regional Police (Polda Jawa Timur): 29,372 cases
2. Central Java Regional Police (Polda Jawa Tengah): 29,031 cases
3. Jakarta Metro Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya): 10,711 cases
4. West Java Regional Police (Polda Jawa Barat): 8,557 cases
5. South Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda Sulawesi Selatan): 7,252 cases
6. Bali Regional Police (Polda Bali): 6,612 cases
7. Yogyakarta Special Region Regional Police (Polda D.I Yogyakarta): 6,240 cases
8. North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumatera Utara): 5,889 cases
9. Aceh Regional Police (Polda Aceh): 3,227 cases
10. West Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumatera Barat): 2,008 cases

The Indonesian National Police also recorded a total of 198,251 victims from these accidents. The breakdown is as follows: 83% suffered minor injuries, 10% died, and 7% suffered serious injuries.
