6,000 Palestinians Killed in Conflict with Israel

The conflict between Palestine and Israel continues to this day. Most recently, Israeli police raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem, injuring over a hundred Palestinian worshippers in the early hours of Friday, April 15th.

According to data from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), from 2008 to early April 2022, a total of 6,014 Palestinians were killed as a result of the conflict with Israel.

During the same period, OCHA recorded only about 265 Israeli fatalities.

This disparity in casualties reflects the military imbalance between Palestine and Israel.

Israel possesses a significantly stronger military, with 169,500 active personnel in 2019.

Palestine, on the other hand, lacks a formal military. However, the combined forces of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad are estimated at 30,000-50,000.

Israel also holds a significant advantage in weaponry. Supported by the United States, Israel possessed 595 air force units, 9,200 tanks and armored vehicles in 2020. Furthermore, they possess various types of missiles and the Iron Dome system, capable of intercepting rockets from Palestine.

Conversely, Palestine receives considerable support from Iran, particularly in the supply of rockets and missiles. The number of Palestinian rockets and missiles was estimated at 13,000-14,000 units in 2020. However, the extent of their other military assets remains unknown.
