Indonesia's Population in 2100 to Rank 7th in the World

According to United Nations (UN) projections, the world's population reached 7.79 billion in 2020. This number is projected to increase to 9.74 billion in 2050 and 10.87 billion in 2100. Indonesia's population is projected to reach 273.52 million next year, ranking fourth in the world, behind China, India, and the United States, as shown in the graph.

By 2100, Indonesia's population is projected to reach 320.78 million, but its global ranking will fall to seventh. The success of the national family planning program, coupled with a surge in birth rates in African and South Asian countries, will cause Nigeria, Pakistan, and Congo to surpass Indonesia in population.

According to the same projections, at the end of the 21st century, Asia's population will reach 4.71 billion, Africa 4.28 billion, and Europe 629 million. Latin America and the Caribbean will have a population of 679 million, North America 490 million, and Oceania 74.9 million. India is projected to become the world's most populous country in 2027, surpassing China.
