According to data from the National Criminal Information Center (Pusiknas) of the Indonesian National Police, cases of crime against children in Indonesia are experiencing an upward trend until 2025.

Throughout January-November 2025, reported child protection offenses increased by 2.48% (year-on-year/yoy) and by 8.95% compared to 2023 data.

Meanwhile, reported cases of child rape/molestation in 2025 surged by 22.05% (yoy) and by 54.13% compared to cases reported in 2023.

The following is the number of reported cases of crime against children in Indonesia during 2023-2025, according to Pusiknas Polri data:

January-November 2023

Child protection offenses: 14,664 reports
Child rape/molestation: 3,257 reports

January-November 2024

Child protection offenses: 15,590 reports
Child rape/molestation: 4,113 reports

January-November 2025

Child protection offenses: 15,976 reports
Child rape/molestation: 5,020 reports

Based on Pusiknas Polri records, out of 15,976 reported child protection offenses, 3,482 cases (21.80%) occurred at home.

Meanwhile, out of 5,020 reported cases of child rape/molestation, 1,402 cases (27.93%) occurred at home.

“This means that more than one-fifth of violence against children and almost one-third of sexual violence actually takes place in private spaces such as homes,” explained Pusiknas Polri.

“This fact emphasizes that threats to children do not only come from outside, but can also originate from those closest to them,” it added.
