According to the *Indonesia Statistics* report, there were 1.57 million marriages in the country throughout 2023, a 7.51% decrease compared to 2022 (year-on-year/YoY).
West Java had the highest number of marriages in 2023, with 317,715 marriages, or 20.15% of the national total.
East Java ranked second with 317,715 marriages, followed by Central Java with 285,189 marriages, and East Java with 256,144 marriages.
Next were North Sumatra with 70,630 marriages, and Banten with 68,185 marriages.
The lowest number of marriages were recorded in South Papua, Central Papua, West Papua, Southwest Papua, Papua, and East Nusa Tenggara.
Meanwhile, Papua Mountains was the only province that did not record any marriages throughout 2023.
