Indonesia's younger generation shows optimism towards several sectors. A 2020 survey conducted by the Good News From Indonesia (GNFI) community revealed that Indonesian youth are most optimistic about the development of science and culture; 72% of respondents stated this.

The most prominent aspect of the science and culture sector is closely related to tourism development. This is further enhanced by the increasing ease of access to various information on tourist destinations and advancements in science and technology.

GNFI conducted the Optimism Index Survey from July to August 2020. 300 respondents aged 18-40 participated in this research. They came from Jakarta, Makassar, Medan, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta.
