877,000 Indonesians Involved in Accidents H1 2025, Mostly Motorcyclists

Based on data from the Indonesian National Police's Criminal Information Center (Pusiknas), in the first semester of 2025, there were 71,636 traffic accidents in Indonesia involving 877,622 drivers.

Based on vehicle type, motorcycle drivers were most frequently involved in accidents, followed by minibus drivers, medium-sized truck drivers, pickup truck drivers, and passenger van drivers.

Here are the top 10 categories of drivers most involved in traffic accidents in the first semester of 2025:

1. Motorcycles/two-wheeled vehicles: 671,331 drivers

2. Minibuses: 62,425 drivers

3. Medium-sized trucks: 36,116 drivers

4. Pickup trucks: 25,019 drivers

5. Passenger vans: 13,007 drivers

6. Heavy trucks/trailers: 12,841 drivers

7. Bicycles: 11,719 drivers

8. Mini trucks: 8,050 drivers

9. Passenger sedans: 6,854 drivers

10. Bentor/bajaj/bemo/three-wheeled vehicles: 3,119 drivers

Of the 877,622 drivers involved in traffic accidents during the first semester of 2025, 49.85% sustained minor injuries, 40.36% were unharmed, 5.09% died, and 4.7% sustained serious injuries.

Drivers aged 26-45 were most frequently involved in accidents, accounting for 33.25%. This was followed by the 17-25 age group (25.09%), the 46-65 age group (22.18%), those under 17 (15.25%), and drivers whose ages were unknown (4.24%).

48.8% of drivers involved in traffic accidents were not designated as suspects, 47.33% were designated as suspects, and the status of 3.87% of drivers was unknown.
