404 Human Trafficking Cases by Mid-2025: Here's the Trend

Based on data from the National Criminal Information Center (Pusiknas) of the Indonesian National Police (Bareskrim Polri), 404 people have been recorded as victims of human trafficking (TPPO) in Indonesia from the beginning of this year until July 14, 2025.

The majority of victims were women, totaling 207, while 96 were men. Police revealed that the number of cases per month from the beginning to the middle of this year fluctuated.

"The trend in the number of cases shows that the most TPPO cases were handled in January 2025, namely 60 cases," wrote the Police in their report on Monday (July 14, 2025).

The number tended to decrease in the following months, although it rose again in May. Then, in the first two weeks of July 2025, the Police recorded 14 TPPO cases in Indonesia.

Pusiknas Polri also recorded that students were the group most frequently victimized by TPPO, with a total of 95 people. This was followed by private employees with 57 people and domestic workers with 42 people.

The handling of these TPPO cases is spread across 29 police work units (satker) at the provincial level or regional police (polda).

East Java Police received the most reports, with a total of 54 victims. This was followed by West Java with 42 victims and Metro Jaya with 27 victims.
