This is the Minimum Expenditure of the Poor Population Category

Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the national average Poverty Line (PL) was Rp 486,168 per capita per month in September 2021. This means that if a person's average expenditure to meet minimum food and non-food needs is below this figure, they are categorized as poor.

The poverty line is the minimum expenditure value for food and non-food needs that must be met to avoid being categorized as poor. If the average per capita expenditure per month is below the PL, then that individual is categorized as poor.

By region, rural residents with an average minimum expenditure for food and non-food needs below Rp 464,474 per capita per month are included in the poor population group. Meanwhile, urban residents whose average minimum expenditure to meet food and non-food needs is below Rp 502,730 per capita per month are categorized as poor.

Food commodities still contribute the most to the PL, both in rural and urban areas. Food needs contribute 72.37% to the urban PL and 76.49% to the rural PL. Meanwhile, non-food needs contribute 27.63% to the urban PL and 23.51% to the rural PL.

The PL has shown an upward trend from 2015 to 2021, both in urban, rural, and combined urban and rural areas. The urban and rural PL in September 2021 increased by 2.89% from its position in March 2021 and also increased by 5.93% compared to September 2020.
