LSI: Most Citizens Believe Hasto is Involved in Harun Masiku Case

An Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) report reveals that 38.2% of respondents were aware of the indictment of PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto in the alleged corruption case surrounding the replacement of Harun Masiku as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI).

Of this group, 77% believe Hasto was involved in the case. This breaks down to 15.3% who strongly believe and 61.7% who believe he was involved.

Conversely, 16.4% of respondents do not believe Hasto was involved in Harun Masiku's bribery case. This comprises 15.5% who said they were less certain and 0.9% who did not believe at all.

LSI Executive Director Djayadi Hanan stated that Hasto's arrest enhances the Corruption Eradication Commission's (KPK) image and contributes to a positive assessment of corruption eradication during President Prabowo's administration.

"This reflects one of the reasons why the public gives a positive assessment to the performance of corruption eradication," Djayadi said in an online presentation of the survey on Sunday, February 9, 2025.

The LSI survey also found that 44.9% of respondents gave a positive assessment to the performance of corruption eradication efforts during the first 100 days of Prabowo's administration.

The survey involved 1,220 respondents across Indonesia, aged 17 and above or married. Respondents were selected using multistage random sampling.

Data collection was conducted from January 20-28, 2025, through face-to-face interviews with trained interviewers. The survey's margin of error is approximately 2.9% at a 95% confidence level.
