Top 10 Indonesian Provinces with the Highest Birth Registration Completeness in 2023

Data from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that the average estimated completeness of birth registration in Indonesia is 62.11% of the total births in 2023, based on a cut-off date of March 2024.

Ten provinces have the highest estimated completeness of birth registration in Indonesia.

First is DKI Jakarta with an estimate of 86.07% for births in 2023.

Second is DI Yogyakarta at 75.36%. Third is Central Java at 75.15%.

East Kalimantan follows in fourth place with a proportion of 73.64%. Fifth is North Kalimantan at 72.02%.

This is followed by Aceh, Banten, and South Kalimantan. These 10 provinces have estimates above the national average.

However, BPS observations show that the estimated completeness of birth registration is below 50% in eleven provinces.

The three provinces with the lowest birth registration completeness are Papua Pegunungan (3.15%), Central Papua (6.43%), and East Nusa Tenggara (16.51%).
