According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), in 2023 there were approximately 11.83 million livestock farmers in Indonesia.
This figure includes individuals engaged in livestock farming, encompassing fattening, breeding, and/or livestock propagation on land (excluding aquaculture or cultivation in the sea or waters).
Based on provincial distribution, the highest concentration of livestock farmers in Indonesia is in East Java, Central Java, and West Java.
The number of farmers in these three provinces accounts for 56%, or more than half, of the national livestock farming sector.
Conversely, the lowest number of livestock farmers is in DKI Jakarta, with a proportion of only 0.02% of the national total.
