The Times Higher Education (THE) ranking agency compiled the best universities in Indonesia based on their research contributions to industry. The assessment uses several indicators, one of which is industry income.
The aim of the assessment is to evaluate a university's ability to assist industry through innovation, research, and consultation, thus improving institutional quality.
THE assigns a score on a scale of 0-100 points. The higher the score a university receives, the higher the quality of its research output.
As a result, the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) ranked first, receiving the highest industry income score in Indonesia, namely 88.8 points.
Yuli Setyo Indartono, Head of ITB's Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), stated that as the oldest engineering university in Indonesia, ITB plays a significant role in the industry.
"In terms of innovation, ITB has conducted numerous research studies targeting high-value industries," said Yuli via the official website on Monday (28/8/2023).
He also mentioned that ITB currently has 32 research centers, 9 of which are categorized as excellent by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemenbudristek).
Meanwhile, Universitas Indonesia (UI) followed in second place, scoring 77.7 points. This was followed by Universitas Gadah Mada (UGM) with 71.7 points.
