Based on the forest and land fire monitoring system SiPongi from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring over the last 24 hours detected 1,762 hotspots across Indonesia. This figure is 1,556 hotspots lower than the previous monitoring period.

This data was obtained from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Thursday (6/8/2026) at 11:35 WIB. Out of 1,762 detected hotspots: 94 have high confidence level, 1,568 medium confidence, and 100 low confidence.

Hotspot confidence is classified into 3 tiers: low (0-29), medium (30-79), high (80-100). Higher hotspot confidence indicates greater probability of active forest and land fires in the area.

Most hotspots were detected in West Kalimantan (549 points), followed by South Papua (189), and South Kalimantan (186).

East Kalimantan recorded 140 hotspots, Central Kalimantan 103, while East Nusa Tenggara and South Sulawesi had 93 and 51 hotspots respectively.

Hotspots are coordinate points with higher surface temperature than surrounding areas; this count does not equal the number of actual fire incidents.

However, dense clusters of hotspots in an area reliably indicate ongoing forest and land fires. Satellite-detected hotspot data remains the most effective method for large-scale wildfire monitoring.
