The number of poor people in North Kalimantan in June 2024 decreased by 140 to 47,830 compared to March 2023. Compared to September 2022, the number of poor people also decreased from 50,580.

This decrease in the number of poor people in the province also contributed to a reduction in the poverty rate.

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) released data showing that the poverty rate in North Kalimantan reached 6.32 percent in 2024. This figure decreased by 0.13 percentage points compared to March 2023, which was recorded at 6.45 percent. Compared to September 2022, the figure decreased by 0.54 percentage points.

By region, the number of poor people decreased by 47,830 in March 2024 compared to March 2023 and was lower than in September 2022. The number of poor people in urban areas decreased by 1,570 to 23,180 in March 2024. The number of poor people in rural areas was recorded at 24,650.

Poverty conditions in North Kalimantan are calculated based on the poverty line for food and non-food items, recorded at Rp. 772,910 per capita/month. According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), this latest poverty line is detailed as Rp. 599,250 per capita/month for food needs and Rp. 218,630 per capita/month for non-food needs.

The poverty line for rural areas is Rp. 765,600 per capita/month. This is detailed as Rp. 556,840 per capita/month for food and Rp. 224,370 per capita/month for non-food items. Meanwhile, the poverty line in urban areas is Rp. 851,130 per capita/month, detailed as Rp. 626,760 per capita/month for food and Rp. 224,370 per capita/month for non-food items.
