These 10 Countries Had the Highest Population Growth in a Decade: Is Indonesia Among Them?

India had the largest population increase in the world between 2011 and 2021. According to World Bank data, India's population increased by 143.12 million (11.45%) to 1.39 billion in 2021, compared to 1.25 billion in 2011.

China followed with a population increase of 67.33 million (5.01%), reaching 1.41 billion in 2021 compared to the previous decade. Next was Nigeria, with a population increase of 48.6 million (29.85%), reaching 211.4 million last year.

Pakistan also experienced significant growth, with a population increase of 41.86 million (22.83%) over the past 10 years, reaching 225.2 million in 2021. Indonesia saw a population increase of 31.24 million (12.75%), reaching 276.36 million.

Ethiopia's population increased by 27.74 million (30.77%) to 117.88 million in 2021, the Democratic Republic of Congo by 25.62 million (38.38%) to 92.38 million, and the United States by 20.31 million (6.52%) to 331.89 million.

Egypt's population increased by 19.73 million (23.34%) to 104.26 million last year, and Bangladesh's by 17.03 million (11.41%) to 166.03 million.

Over the last decade, the world's population increased by 823 million (11.89%) to 7.84 billion in 2021.
