Doublethink Lab and the China In The World network have released their latest research, titled ‘China Index 2022: Measuring PRC Influence Around the Globe’.
The China Index 2022 is an index that objectively measures and visualizes China's influence on 82 countries across various regions using comparable data.
The research findings place Pakistan as the country most influenced by China in 2022. In the China Index 2022, Pakistan received a score of 242/380, the highest compared to other countries.
China's exposure to Pakistan is 70%, pressure is 10%, and effect is 75%. The following is an assessment of China's influence on Pakistan across 9 domains:
1. Media: 52.3%/30.1%
2. Academia: 62.5%/34%
3. Economy: 54.5%/33.6%
4. Society: 43.2%/23.6%
5. Military: 80.0%/23.4%
6. Law Enforcement: 47.7%/30.2%
7. Technology: 97.7%/40.8%
8. Domestic Politics: 52.8%/37.2%
9. Foreign Policy: 81.8%/41%
Cambodia achieved a score of 233/376, ranking second as the country most influenced by China. This is followed by Singapore in third place with a score of 228/384, Thailand with a score of 226/384, and Peru with a score of 219/396.
Other countries include South Africa with a score of 219/396, the Philippines with 204/380, Kyrgyzstan with 206/384, Tajikistan with 194/396, and Malaysia with 189/388.
Indonesia ranks 16th among the countries most influenced by China, with a score of 176/396. China's exposure to Indonesia is 53%, pressure is 17%, and effect is 40%.
