Every city in the world has a different crime rate; some are safe, while others are dangerous. Numbeo reports that there are 10 cities with the highest crime rates in Southeast Asia.

Malaysian cities dominate the list. Klang, Malaysia, has a crime index of 64.52 points, the highest compared to other cities in Southeast Asia. This is followed by Manila, Philippines, with a crime index score of 64.39 points.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is next with a score of 63.85 points. Meanwhile, two other Malaysian cities, Johor Bahru and Petaling Jaya, have scores of 55.96 points and 55.53 points, respectively.

Jakarta is included in the top 10 cities with the highest crime rates in Southeast Asia, ranking eighth with a score of 53.5 points. Jakarta's crime index score is below Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, which has a score of 53.84 points.

The crime index uses a scale of 0-100. Numbeo explains that an index score of less than 20 indicates that the crime rate in a country is very low. Conversely, an index score above 80 indicates a very high crime rate in a country.
