The global population increased by 832 million people in the last decade.

According to World Bank data, the world's population reached 7.84 billion in 2021. This represents an increase of 832.87 million (11.89%) compared to the previous decade.

Cumulatively, the world's population increased by 8.32 million (1.19%) per year during the 2011-2021 period.

In 2021, China was recorded as the country with the largest population, reaching 1.41 billion. This was followed by India with a population of 1.39 billion, the United States with 331.89 million, Indonesia with 276.36 million, and Pakistan with 225.2 million.

The next largest populations were Brazil with 213.99 million in 2021, Nigeria with 211.4 million, Bangladesh with 166.3 million, Russia with 143.45 million, and Mexico with 130.26 million.

The countries with the smallest populations were Nauru, with only 10,870 people in 2021; Tuvalu with 11,930; Palau with 18,170; the British Virgin Islands with 30,420; and Gibraltar with 33,690.

Also included are San Marino with a population of only 34,010 last year; Liechtenstein with 38,250; the Turks and Caicos Islands with 39,230; and St. Martin and Monaco with 39,240 and 39,520 respectively.
