This Regency Has the Highest Number of Living Divorces in South Sumatra

Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir is recorded as the regency with the highest number of residents with "living divorced" status in South Sumatra Province.

According to the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil), there were 2,471 residents in Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir with living divorced status in 2021.

This number represents 1.23% of the regency's total population of 200,855, making it the highest proportion compared to the other 16 regencies/cities in South Sumatra.

The next highest proportion of residents with living divorced status is Lubuk Linggau City, at 1.22% of its total population. This is followed by Pagar Alam City and Lahat Regency, each at 1.16%.

The lowest proportion of residents with living divorced status is in East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, at only 0.89% of its total population. This is followed by Banyuasin Regency at 0.57%, and Komering Ilir Regency at 0.63%.

Overall, the population of South Sumatra Province totaled 8.57 million last year.

Based on marital status, 46.4% of the province's population was unmarried, 49.65% was married, 0.89% was living divorced, and 3.06% was widowed.

Living divorced refers to someone who has separated from their spouse due to divorce and has not remarried. Widowed refers to someone whose spouse has died and who has not remarried.
