The 10 Most Religious Countries in the World: Is Indonesia on the List?

CEOWORLD magazine released its 2024 list of the "most religious" countries in the world. This ranking is based on a survey of approximately 820,000 respondents across 148 countries.

Somalia ranked first, with 99.8% of respondents identifying as religious.

Indonesia ranked seventh, with 98.7% of respondents identifying as religious.

"The term 'religious' signifies devotion to divinity, commitment to religious beliefs or practices with diligence and care. However, the interpretation of this term may vary from person to person," stated the CEOWORLD team in their report.

Below is the complete list of the top 10 countries where respondents most frequently identified as religious, according to the 2024 CEOWORLD survey:

1. Somalia: 99.8% of respondents identified as religious
2. Niger: 99.7%
3. Bangladesh: 99.5%
4. Ethiopia: 99.3%
5. Yemen: 99.1%
6. Malawi: 99%
7. Indonesia: 98.7%
8. Sri Lanka: 98.6%
9. Mauritania: 98.5%
10. Djibouti: 98.2%

CEOWORLD also noted that China was the "least religious" country, with only 7% of respondents identifying as religious—the lowest percentage among the countries surveyed.
