Taste Atlas, a Croatian culinary travel guide website, has shared a list of cities worldwide renowned for their local food. The list is compiled from data gathered from the internet.

"What we did is the following: we combined the average rating of the best local and regional dishes served in a particular city, the average rating of national dishes served in that city, and the average Google rating for the best traditional restaurants in that city," stated the Taste Atlas team in their report.

As a result, Florence, Italy, topped the ranking with a score of 4.71 out of 5. According to Taste Atlas, Florence's cuisine is characterized by its simple menus, prepared using high-quality local ingredients.

Besides Florence, several other Italian cities also made it into the top 15, namely Rome, Naples, Milan, and Venice, with scores as shown in the graph.

Indonesia's capital city, Jakarta, ranked 14th on the list of cities with the best local food in the world, achieving a score of 4.56.

"Jakarta's traditional food is known for its strong flavors, abundant use of spices, and diversity to suit all tastes," wrote Taste Atlas in its report.

Taste Atlas also recommends trying these must-try local dishes in Jakarta: Soto Betawi, Gado-gado, Sate, Nasi Uduk, and Bubur Ayam.

Besides Jakarta, several other Indonesian cities also made the list of the 100 cities with the best local food: Yogyakarta (48th), Bandung (80th), Padang (90th), Surabaya (94th), and Malang (99th).
